WHY WE FIGHT

Mowing somebody down with an SUV is certainly a rather decisive way to win an argument. Note how this charming incident uniquely merges the respective pathologies of the USA, with its automotive death cult, and the Balkans, with their endless ethno-historical grudges. Does anybody know exactly what they were arguing about? We are morbidly curious. From AP, Dec. 31:

NEW YORK – Boxer Kemal Kolenovic was killed outside a Bronx bar, police and witnesses said.

The 28-year-old boxer was at a restaurant when several other men got into an argument about their native Eastern Europe. Kolenovic, who immigrated from Montenegro, followed the men outside. According to his uncle, Kolenovic was not arguing and was trying to placate the other men.

One of the men involved in the quarrel got into a sport-utility vehicle and drove it onto the sidewalk, hitting Kolenovic, witnesses and police said. The driver then fled.

The boxer was pronounced dead at St. Barnabas Hospital, police said.

Kolenovic, a 5-foot-7 middleweight, was 10-6 with five knockouts and two draws.

He won his most recent fight, a first-round knockout in mid-December at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y., against Ronny Glover.
