"Popular Assembly of the Peoples of Jalisco" proclaimed
From La Jornada, Dec. 11 via Chiapas95 (our translation):
GUADALAJARA - Some 100 sympathizers of the popular movement in Oaxaca announced the formation of the Popular Assembly of the Peoples of Jalisco (APPJ), whose primary aim will be "the unity of the distinct resistance movements in the state against the attack of the ultra-right now in power."
The sympathizers of the Popular Assembly of the People of Oaxaca (APPO) held a march through the cetner of Guadalajara, which at its start merged with a red-and-white-clad crowd celebrating a victory by the local Chivas soccer team.
To avoid any altercation, the contingent decided to modify their
route and take alternative streets, saying, "the primary front of action should be in the terrain of ideas and consciousness," not confrontation.
The protesters employed slogans against the "repression of all the social strugglers which PANismo today has in the dungeons."
As we have noted, this makes four Mexican states which have now adopted a statewide alliance of popular organization on the model of the APPO.
