In the ninth YouTube edition of the Moorish Orthodox Radio Crusade, World War 4 Report editor Bill Weinberg takes a tour of the Museum of Reclaimed Urban Space (MoRUS), on Manhattan's Lower East Side, with veteran California eco-activist Darryl Cherney, in town to promote his new documentary Who Bombed Judi Bari? Weinberg, Cherney and the MoRUS crew discuss the cross-fertilization of ecological struggles from Northern California's redwoods to the streets of New York City.

The MoRUS was hit hard by Frankestorm Sandy, forcing it to postpone its planned opening. One of the New York premiere screenings of Who Bombed Judi Bari? was a benefit for the MoRUS, which will now be opening on Saturday Dec. 8. Please come to the Grand Opening Party, starting 3 PM and going on into the evening. The MoRUS is located at 155 Ave C.

ERRATUM AND ANNOTATION:

We were wrong in our recollection that the police closure of Tompkins Square Park took place in May 1990. While there was a major riot in the park on May Day 1990, the final riot that led to the park's closure was a little over a year later, on Memorial Day 1991.

Mount Shasta was a bad example of a high mountain with shrinking glaciers. In contrast to the other peaks in the Cascade Range to the north, as well as the Sierra Nevada to the south, the glaciers on Shasta are actually growing, due to anomalous conditions related to changing weather patterns over the Pacific Ocean, AP noted in 2008. This was also seized upon last year by the climate-denialist website Ice Age Now—despite the fact that Shasta is unfortunately anomolous in this regard. The general retreat of Cascade glaciers is documented by the North Cascade Glacier Climate Project. Glaciers are also of course rapidly retreating in the Andes, the Himalayas (see recent findings from Brigham Young University online at Environmental Research Web Nov. 28; contrast obfuscated report by the annoying Andrew Revkin of the New York Times Sept. 12), and of course Alaska (see PhysOrg, Nov. 26).

The flooded Alaskan village that sued energy companies over climate change is Kivalina.
