Women at the International Peoples’ Health Tribunal (IPHT) at San Miguel IxtahuacĂĄn in Guatemala’s western Highlands, site of the giant Marlin open-pit gold mine that is one of the most important projects of Canadian major Goldcorp Incâlinked to grave health and environmental impacts as well as human rights abuses. The gathering, held July 13-15, was the result of an organizing effort originating from communities affected by the Marlin mine. Also present were people affected by Goldcorpâs Los Filos mine in Mexico and its San MartĂn mine in Honduras, as well as representatives from El Salvador, Costa Rica and Panama.
