US bombs Pakistan —again

Four were killed Jan. 9 in a presumed US drone strike on the village of Ismail Khan in the Dattakhel area of North Waziristan. (CNN, Jan. 9) The attack came hours after Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani again voiced official objection to the ongoing US drone strikes on Pakistan’s territory. (Reuters, Jan. 9)

    Pakistani officials say several suspected US drone attacks killed at least 29 people in North Waziristan Feb. 2. It is believed at least eight drones took part in the attack, firing nearly 20 missiles. One of the suspected targets was Taliban leader Sirajuddin Haqqani. However, published reports quote a commander speaking on the condition of anonymity that Haqqani “is alive and was not in the area at the time of the attack.” (AHN, Feb. 3)

    At least four people were killed Feb. 17 in a US drone strike on a house in Tapi Tolkhel village, just five kilometers from the border with the Afghan province of Khost. The attack was the third in as many days in North Waziristan district. (Press TV, Feb. 17)
