( The former head of the Shin Bet security service told a Los Angeles conference on Sunday that the U.S. might have to attack Iran to prevent further nuclear development.

Avi Dichter told the pro-Israel AIPAC conference attendees that he does not believe Iran will end its nuclear development programs without considerable pressure from the U.S. and other Western nations.

Dichter reminded the audience that it was only years after Israel was condemned for attacking Iraq’s nuclear plant in 1981 that the international community realized how necessary to world peace that operation was.

Sharon has asked Dichter to join his ruling Likud party.

…about who exactly is pulling who’s strings here. Doug Ireland made a case earlier this year that the White House is scheming to goad Israel into throwing the first punch at Iran…

    1. so why the Iranian saber rattling
Where do Ahmadinejad’s recent “wipe off the map” comments fit in?
Is he letting everyone know he has a deal with the Russians?
Does he need an excuse to squash his liberals?
Is war good for business in Iran, too?
